UGG

Brian Smith, an Australian surfer who had just moved to California, started selling sheepskin rolls in 1978. He quickly realised that these boots were not nearly as common in the US as they were in Australia, so he started the UGG brand. Sales weren't overwhelming at first, but that changed during the 1994 Winter Olympics when the US Olympic team wore the roller shoes. In 2003, the boots appeared on the popular Oprah Show, causing an extreme increase in sales. Then 3 years later, UGG opened its first brick-and-mortar store in New York City. The inside of the boot features sheepskin insulation to keep feet warm. The outside of the boot combines sheepskin and suede, called Twinface Sheepskin. To make the boot suitable for winter conditions, it is subsequently impregnated. The sole is non-slip, lightweight and flexible at the same time.
